Nationals 4, Cubs 2: Dan Haren turned in six strong innings and Ryan Zimmerman, Tyler Moore and Ian Desmond each had a pair of hits and an RBI as visiting Washington evened the series at a game apiece.

Haren (8-11) struck out six and held the Cubs to one run on five hits to win his fourth consecutive decision. Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard each worked a scoreless frame to get the ball to Rafael Soriano, who allowed a leadoff homer in the ninth before nailing down his 32nd save.

Cubs left-hander Chris Rusin (2-3) gave up two runs on 10 hits before leaving with two outs in the sixth. Wilson Ramos, Anthony Rendon and Bryce Harper also had two hits apiece for Washington.

The Nationals had the leadoff man on seven times and they were able to take advantage on three occasions. Zimmerman's first-inning double scored Desmond from first, Zimmerman led off the sixth with a double off the ivy in center and scored on Moore's infield hit, and Desmond and Denard Span singled home insurance runs after Harper led off the ninth with a single.

Both of Chicago's runs came on homers. Brian Bogusevic, who was activated from the disabled list earlier in the day, drove a 2-2 splitter from Haren to right-center in the fourth and Donnie Murphy led off the ninth with his seventh homer in 14 games this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Moore has recorded multi-hit games in his first two contests since being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. … Cubs SS Starlin Castro was dropped to the No. 8 spot in the lineup for the first time since his rookie year in 2010. He went 0-for-4 and has one hit in his last 27 at-bats. … The Cubs have hit 136 home runs. They hit 137 all of last season.
