Cardinals 10, Cubs 6: Allen Craig hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the ninth and Yadier Molina belted a three-run homer later in the inning as visiting St. Louis used a 21-hit attack to win a wild contest and earn a split of the four-game series.

Craig and Molina finished with four hits apiece while Pete Kozma went 3-for-6 with two RBIs for the first-place Cardinals, who enter the All-Star break one game ahead of Pittsburgh in the National League Central.

Pinch-hitter Cody Ransom delivered a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning to forge a 6-6 tie as Chicago erased a deficit for the third time. St. Louis would not be denied, however, as it reached Kevin Gregg (2-2) for four runs in the ninth and posted its eighth win in 10 games.

Carlos Beltran started the rally with a one-out double and took third on right fielder Dave Sappelt's error before scoring the go-ahead run on Craig's single. David Freese followed with a base hit and Molina drilled an 0-2 offering into the seats in left for his seventh blast.

Molina's homer made a winner of Edward Mujica (2-1), who blew his second save opportunity of the season by allowing Ransom's double. Darwin Barney went 3-for 4 with a three-run homer and an RBI single for the Cubs, who had won six of their previous eight contests.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright allowed four runs and eight hits over six frames. It was just the second time in 11 starts that the veteran failed to complete seven innings. ... OF Cole Gillespie made his Cubs debut as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and delivered a one-out single before scoring on Ransom's double. Gillespie, who remained in the game in center field, was claimed off waivers from San Francisco on Saturday. ... Chicago starter Travis Wood lasted 5 2/3 innings, surrendering three runs and 10 hits.
