Cubs 4, Pirates 3 (11): Pinch hitter Dioner Navarro's sacrifice fly in the 11th inning lifted host Chicago to a win in the rubber match of a three-game series with first-place Pittsburgh.

Anthony Rizzo and Alfonso Soriano opened the 11th with consecutive singles against Bryan Morris (4-3), and each moved up when catcher Russell Martin's pickoff throw behind Rizzo at second sailed into center field. Morris then walked Luis Valbuena intentionally to load the bases for Navarro, whose line drive to right was plenty deep enough to get Rizzo home.

Scott Hairston hit a tie-breaking solo shot in the seventh inning, and the Cubs were one out away from claiming the series from the Pirates before Starling Marte's blast off closer Kevin Gregg tied it in the ninth. Matt Guerrier (3-4) picked up Gregg with two innings of scoreless relief for his first win with the Cubs.

Pirates starter A.J. Burnett allowed two runs - one earned - on three hits over five innings in his first start since straining a calf muscle June 8 against the Cubs. Chicago grabbed a 2-0 lead against Burnett in the third, as first baseman Garrett Jones' error allowed one run to score and a second came in on Soriano's sacrifice fly.

Pittsburgh rallied to tie it on RBI doubles from Andrew McCutchen and Jose Tabata before Hairston launched a 2-1 sinker from Tony Watson to center. The Pirates pulled even again when Marte ran the count full and fouled off two tough pitches before blasting a sinker to center for his ninth home run, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago 2B Darwin Barney booted Jones' ground ball in the ninth, snapping a streak of 74 games without an error dating to last season. … Cubs RHP Carlos Villanueva gave up one run on three hits over four innings in his return to the rotation after working out of the bullpen since his last start on May 14. … The Pirates begin a six-game home stand Monday against Oakland, while the Cubs travel across town for a make-up game against the rival White Sox.
