Cubs 4, Pirates 1: Alfonso Soriano belted a pair of two-run homers and host Chicago evened the series at one game apiece.

Soriano had a two-run blast to center in the fourth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and added a towering shot to left field in the fifth as the Cubs improved to 4-7 against Pittsburgh and earned only their 12th win in 38 games against a National League Central opponent.

Edwin Jackson (5-10) gave up one run and four hits in 5 2/3 innings to improve to 6-2 lifetime against division-leading Pittsburgh. Two relievers bridged the gap to closer Kevin Gregg, who notched his 15th save in 16 chances with a scoreless ninth.

Pirates right-hander Charlie Morton (1-2) went six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits, snapping a streak of 19 straight games in which a Pittsburgh starter allowed three or fewer earned runs.

Pedro Alvarez homered and Starling Marte had a pair of hits and two stolen bases to extend his hitting streak to 11 games for Pittsburgh, which was denied in its bid to win an eighth straight road game for the first time since September 1987. Andrew McCutchen also had two hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Soriano's blasts were Nos. 383 and 384 of his career, tying him with Harold Baines for 59th place on the all-time list. ... Pirates 2B Neil Walker came out of the game in the fifth inning due to discomfort in his right side. ... Pittsburgh had four players named to the NL All-Star team: 3B Alvarez, CF McCutchen, LHP Jeff Locke and closer Jason Grilli. LHP Travis Wood was Chicago's lone selection.
