Rockies 9, Cubs 4: Carlos Gonzalez had a career-high five hits - including a pair of solo home runs - while Jeff Francis won for the first time since his season debut as visiting Colorado evened the three-game series.

Francis (2-3) yielded one run and three hits while striking out a season-high seven and also delivered a sacrifice fly. Eric Young Jr. added a two-run homer, Troy Tulowitzki had three hits while Gonzalez recorded three RBIs and scored three runs during his 5-for-5 night to pace the Rockies' 17-hit attack.

Darwin Barney had three hits and two RBIs, including a home run for Chicago, which had its three-game winning streak snapped. Carlos Villanueva (1-3) allowed seven runs and 12 hits in five innings while losing his third straight decision.

The Rockies scored in each of the first three innings beginning with Gonzalez's single that drove in Young, who led off the game with a double. Francis' sacrifice fly in the second was followed by Young's two-run blast to center while Gonzalez led off the third with his first homer to the top of the right-field bleachers.

Colorado added a pair of runs in the fifth when Tulowitzki's ground-ball double down the left-field line scored Gonzalez, and Todd Helton followed with an RBI single to center to give the Rockies a 7-0 lead. Gonzalez's second homer – and ninth of the season – came with one out in the ninth to make it 8-3.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cubs 3B Luis Valbuena missed his third straight game after injuring his pinky finger while sliding Saturday. ... Colorado C Wilin Rosario snapped a string of 14 straight at-bats without a hit when he singled in the ninth. ... Chicago 1B Anthony Rizzo is 1-for-9 since signing a seven-year, $41 million contract extension before Monday's game.
