White Sox 5, Royals 2: Dayan Viciedo belted a grand slam to power visiting Chicago to its fifth consecutive victory.

Andre Rienzo (1-0) notched his first major-league victory in his fifth career start, giving up two runs on five hits over six innings to put the White Sox in position to complete a perfect six-game road trip in Thursday's series finale. Three relievers bridged the gap to Addison Reed, who earned his second save of the series and 33rd of the year.

Jeremy Guthrie (12-10) lost his third straight start for slumping Kansas City, which has dropped four straight and seven of nine to remain 6 1/2 games out of the second wild card in the American League.

Viciedo and Conor Gillaspie had three hits apiece and Adam Dunn delivered an RBI single for the White Sox, who scored all their runs in the fourth inning. After Dunn drove in the first run, Paul Konerko and Gillaspie singled to load the bases for Viciedo, who hammered a hanging slider from Guthrie deep to left-center for his second career grand slam.

Mike Moustakas had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth and David Lough added an RBI single in the sixth for Kansas City, which has scored only 18 runs in its last nine games to stall its drive for a postseason slot.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rienzo became the first player from Brazil to earn a win in the majors. ... Moustakas was back in the starting lineup for the Royals after missing seven of the previous eight games with a calf injury. ... White Sox rookie RF Avisail Garcia went 1-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to eight games. ... Royals INF Miguel Tejada, who was suspended for 105 games last weekend due to repeated use of amphetamines, received some good news when Major League Baseball cleared him of any involvement in the Biogenesis scandal. It will not affect Tejada's suspension, which extends to the first 64 games of the 2014 season.
