Cubs 7, White Sox 0:
Jeff Samardzija tossed a two-hitter for his first career shutout and Alfonso Soriano recorded three hits and two RBIs as the visiting Cubs claimed the first of four games against their crosstown rivals.

Julio Borbon hit a two-run homer and Anthony Rizzo contributed two hits and two RBIs for the Cubs, who have won two straight following a season-high six-game losing streak. The White Sox lost for just the fourth time in their last 13 games.

The White Sox had their first hit - Conor Gillaspie's single leading off the third - erased by a double play and didn't have a runner reach scoring position until Tyler Flowers walked and moved to third on Alexei Ramirez's two-out single in the ninth. Samardzija (3-6) walked two and struck out eight to notch his seventh quality start in 11 outings this season.

Soriano drove in a run with a single off the left-field wall in the first, Borbon ripped a first-pitch fastball from Jose Quintana (3-2) into the right-field seats to make it 3-0 in the fifth and Scott Hairston added to the cushion with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Quintana allowed four runs on four hits over six innings, and the Cubs teed off on reliever Nate Jones in the seventh. Rizzo drove in two with a triple when Alejandro De Aza mistimed his jump at the wall, and he scored on Soriano's single up the middle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Borbon's homer was his first in the majors since 2010 with Texas. That one also came against the White Sox. … The White Sox have been held to two or fewer hits twice this season. Matt Harvey and Bobby Parnell combined on a 10-inning one-hitter to beat Chicago 1-0 on May 7. … The Cubs placed RHP Kyuji Fujikawa on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm and claimed RHP Alex Burnett off waivers from Baltimore. Fujikawa spent time on the disabled list earlier in the season with a similar injury.
