Twins 10, White Sox 3
: Rookie Aaron Hicks homered twice and Justin Morneau had three hits and four RBIs to lead host Minnesota to a blowout win in the opener of a three-game set.

Hicks, who was dropped from the leadoff spot after a slow start, had the first multi-hit game of his career with solo shots in the fourth and sixth innings. Morneau singled and doubled twice, including one to clear the bases in the eighth, as the Twins improved to 3-0 this season against their division rivals.

Pedro Hernandez (2-0) shook off a rocky beginning to pick up the win after giving up three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Trevor Plouffe added a two-run double and Joe Mauer extended his hitting streak to 12 games and scored twice for Minnesota.

Hernandez allowed hits to the first three batters as Alex Rios' RBI double started the scoring and Dayan Viciedo followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Morneau had his first RBI and Plouffe's big double highlighted a four-run third as Minnesota began to take charge.

Hicks led off the fourth by smashing a 1-2 slider from White Sox starter Hector Santiago (1-2) over the center-field wall and gave the Twins a 6-3 advantage with a first-pitch blast off Santiago in the sixth. Minnesota scored four more times in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Santiago was charged with six runs (three earned) and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. ... White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez committed an error during Minnesota's four-run third, leading to three unearned runs. It was Chicago's American League-leading 29th error. ... Morneau has hit safely in nine straight games.
