The Braves are 12-1 for the first time since 1994 and have their longest winning streak in 13 years. Juan Francisco homered twice as Atlanta hit five solo homers.

Heyward snapped a 2-2 tie with one out in the eighth on a homer to left off Kelvin Herrera (1-1), and Upton followed with his major league-leading eighth homer. Eric O’Flaherty (3-0) pitched a scoreless inning for the victory.

Francisco’s line-drive homer to right in the second gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead, and his homer to center in the seventh tied the game 2-2.

The Royals answered in the third on Chris Getz’s first homer in four years, a solo shot to right. Kansas City moved ahead 2-1 in the fourth as Salvador Perez reached on Francisco’s throwing error with one out and later scored on Jeff Francoeur’s two-out RBI single to right-center.
