Angels 3, Red Sox 0:
Jered Weaver outdueled John Lackey and Mike Trout homered as Los Angeles took the rubber match of a three-game set from visiting Boston.

Weaver (3-4) allowed five hits and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings before two relievers bridged the gap to Ernesto Frieri, who worked around a two-base error in the ninth for his 22nd save. Hank Conger added a solo homer and Mark Trumbo recorded a sacrifice fly for the Angels, who have won 10 of their last 12 games.

Lackey (6-6) struck out nine and walked one while yielding two runs on five hits in seven innings. Jacoby Ellsbury doubled to extend his hitting streak to 17 games for the Red Sox.

Trout got Los Angeles on the board in the first inning when he sat back on a 1-1 fastball and belted it the opposite way over the wall in right-center.

Conger made it a 2-0 gap with a deep drive to right in the fifth inning and the Angels tacked on some insurance with Trumbo’s sacrifice fly in the eighth. Los Angeles, which overcame a four-run deficit in the ninth inning Saturday, has won four straight series.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Red Sox placed LHP Andrew Miller (foot) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled RHP Alfredo Aceves. … Boston RF Shane Victorino (left hamstring) sat out the game and is questionable for Monday’s series opener at Seattle. … Angels RF Josh Hamilton doubled in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
