Red Sox 10, Rays 8 (14):
Daniel Nava singled in the go-ahead run in the 14th inning and Jarrod Saltalamacchia collected four hits and three RBIs as visiting Boston outlasted Tampa Bay.

Shane Victorino singled off Cesar Ramos (1-2) leading off the 14th and raced to second on Dustin Pedroia’s flyout to right. David Ortiz was walked intentionally in front of Nava, who sent a single into center to plate Victorino and make a winner of Franklin Morales (2-0), who was scheduled to start Wednesday but was summoned for two scoreless innings of relief.

The Red Sox piled up six runs before an out was recorded in the first inning as the first eight batters reached against Alex Cobb. But Cobb settled down to last four innings, and the Rays' bullpen held Boston's offense down as Tampa Bay chipped away.

Matt Joyce and Evan Longoria each hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to cut it to 6-2. The Rays added single runs in the third, fourth, seventh and eighth to force extra innings.

The Red Sox went ahead on Saltalamacchia’s two-run single in the 10th, but Tampa Bay fought back again. Jose Lobaton hit a solo homer in the bottom of the inning and Kelly Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk off Boston closer Andrew Bailey to keep the game going.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Red Sox starter John Lackey hit Joyce between the numbers with a pitch in the sixth inning, and Joyce yelled out at the right-hander while being escorted down the line by Saltalamacchia. Some light shoving occurred between Joyce and the catcher, and the benches cleared briefly before things settled down. Both teams were issued a warning. … After Johnson's walk with none out, Longoria hit into a 5-2-3 double play and pinch-hitter Sam Fuld grounded out. ... The teams combined to leave 23 runners on base and use 16 pitchers.
