Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 0: Jon Lester went the distance on a one-hitter and Daniel Nava had the pivotal double during a four-run seventh as host Boston defeated Toronto.

Lester (5-0) was sensational from start to finish, retiring the first 17 batters he faced before surrendering a double to Maicer Izturis. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter, throwing 79 of his 118 pitches for strikes en route to his third career shutout.

Toronto counterpart Ramon Ortiz (0-1) allowed a run on four hits with five walks over five innings in his first major-league start since July 10, 2011.

Already ahead 1-0, Boston broke the game open against Jays reliever Brett Cecil. After Jacoby Ellsbury and Shane Victorino opened with singles and advanced on a wild pitch, Dustin Pedroia extended the lead with a sharp single to right-center.

Mickey Storey came on with one out and fanned Mike Napoli before Nava drilled a shot to the center-field wall, bringing home Victorino and Pedroia.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lester has a no-hitter on his resume, silencing the Kansas City Royals back on May 19, 2008. ... Blue Jays DH Rajai Davis left the game in the sixth inning with a left oblique strain. Adam Lind took his place, and the two combined to go hitless in four at-bats. ... Storey allowed a run on two hits over 1 1/3 innings in his Toronto debut, becoming the 21st pitcher the Blue Jays have used this season.
