Diamondbacks 3, Giants 2 (10):
Wil Nieves delivered a pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the 10th as Arizona took the rubber game from host San Francisco.

Paul Goldschmidt walked and Cody Ross doubled off Chad Gaudin (0-1) before Miguel Montero was intentionally walked. The Giants brought in Javier Lopez and the Diamondbacks countered with Nieves, who lofted a fly to center deep enough to score Goldschmidt with the go-ahead run.

David Hernandez (1-1) blew the save in the ninth by allowing a solo home run to Brandon Crawford but ended up with the win when Matt Reynolds worked the bottom of the 10th for his second save in as many days. Gerardo Parra put Arizona on top with an RBI single in the top of the ninth.

Crawford added an RBI double in the seventh and Madison Bumgarner allowed one run and five hits in 7 1/3 innings for San Francisco.

The Giants pushed across the game’s first run in the seventh when Gregor Blanco led off with a single and came in to score when Crawford drove an 0-1 fastball to the wall in right-center. That ended the day for Arizona starter Ian Kennedy, who did not allow a hit through the first four innings and ended up charged with a run on four hits in six-plus frames.

GAME NOTEBOOK: San Francisco C Guillermo Quiroz made his first major-league start since Sept. 19, 2010, when he was with the Seattle Mariners. He went 0-for-2. … Arizona manager Kurt Gibson assured reporters that J.J. Putz remains the closer for the team despite some recent struggles. Reynolds got the opportunity in Tuesday’s game and Hernandez got the first crack at the save Wednesday with Putz getting some extra rest. … Rookie Didi Gregorius drove in a run for the Diamondbacks and doubled twice.
