Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 7 (11): Pinch-hitter Eric Hinske crushed a two-run homer off John Axford in the 11th inning and visiting Arizona completed a three-game sweep of Milwaukee.

Aaron Hill and Paul Goldschmidt each had had three hits and two RBIs for the Diamondbacks, who opened the 11th inning with Cliff Pennington’s double before Hinske blasted Axford’s 1-2 pitch deep over the center-field fence. The Brewers answered with one run in the 11th before Heath Bell struck out pinch-hitter Kyle Lohse for his first save.

Milwaukee forced extra innings when pinch-hitter Josh Prince led off the ninth with a ground-rule double off J.J. Putz for his first major league hit and scored on Norichika Aoki’s single. Aoki, who went 4-for-6 with three RBIs, promptly stole second and scored on Jonathan Lucroy's single to right field.

Hill, who hit a solo homer in the seventh off Burke Badenhop to give Arizona a 6-3 lead, went 6-for-15 with two homers and four RBIs in the series. Axford (0-1) took the loss, while Tony Sipp (1-0) earned the win after working a scoreless 10th inning for Arizona.

Alex Gonzalez put Milwaukee ahead 3-2 in the fourth with his a homer off Ian Kennedy, who worked into the seventh inning and allowed four runs and six hits. The Diamondbacks answered with two runs in the sixth off Yovani Gallardo, who gave up four runs and nine hits in six innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewers LF Ryan Braun (neck spasms) missed his third consecutive game, and SS Jean Segura left the game in the fifth inning with a bruised left quadriceps. … Arizona is off to the third 5-1 start in franchise history. … The Brewers loaded the bases in the sixth and seventh innings, but the Diamondbacks held them to just one run. Gonzalez hit into a double play with the bases loaded and no outs in the sixth.
