Orioles 6, Blue Jays 5: Danny Valencia and Adam Jones homered to lead Baltimore past host Toronto.
J.J. Hardy added a two-run single and Freddy Garcia (1-2) escaped multiple jams over five precarious innings as the Orioles won their second straight. Garcia surrendered three runs - two earned - on nine hits while stranding a runner on third base in three of his five innings.
R.A. Dickey (4-6) was charged with six runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings as Toronto dropped to 3-3 on its nine-game homestand. The knuckleballer saw his two-game winning streak come to an end.
Baltimore struck for three runs in the first inning for the second straight day, as Chris Davis belted an RBI ground-rule double and Hardy followed with a two-run single up the middle. An Adam Lind RBI single and Emilio Bonifacio's second home run trimmed the deficit to 3-2, but Valencia restored the three-run advantage with a shot to the second deck to left and Jones added a line-drive blast off the facing of the third deck.
Toronto made a game of it in the eighth on RBI singles from Munenori Kawasaki and Melky Cabrera, but Darren O'Day coaxed an inning-ending groundout from Jose Bautista and Jim Johnson worked a perfect ninth for his 15th save.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bautista went 3-for-5 and is hitting .382 in May. ... Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base less than 24 hours after being ejected for hurling his batting gloves toward home-plate umpire Dan Bellino following a called third strike. Crew chief Wally Bell said Lawrie was tossed for violating baseball etiquette by tossing his gloves "in a bad manner". ... Dickey has walked 31 batters in 68 2/3 innings after issuing just 54 free passes over 233 2/3 innings a season ago.
