Nationals 7, Marlins 4:
Adam LaRoche went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Mark DeRosa drove in three as host Washington took the opener of a doubleheader from Miami.

Tyler Moore added an RBI single and Jayson Werth scored a pair of runs in his second game back for the Nationals, who have won 10 of 13.

Washington wasted little time jumping on Marlins starter Brad Hand (0-1), pushing three runs across in the first. LaRoche opened the onslaught with an RBI single and DeRosa followed two batters later with a two-run single to give the Nationals an early 3-1 edge.

John Lannan (2-0), called up from Triple-A Syracuse to make the spot start, held Miami to three runs on four hits while walking five and striking out four over six-plus innings.

LaRoche made it a 4-1 edge with a solo homer - his 21st - in the fourth, pulling a 3-1 fastball from Hand out to right-center. Washington ended Hand’s day and added three more runs in the fourth, with LaRoche drawing a bases-loaded walk, Moore chipping in an RBI single and DeRosa walking again with the bases loaded to make it 7-1.

Hand ended up walking six and was charged with seven runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The Marlins fought back with two runs in the seventh to chip it to 7-3 and loaded the bases with one out in the eighth before Drew Storen struck out Justin Ruggiano and Michael Gonzalez came in to strike out Bryan Petersen.

They threatened again in the ninth, but Tyler Clippard came on to record his 22nd save.

Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to a career-high 21 games for Miami, which has dropped four of its last five.
