Diamondbacks 4, Dodgers 3 (11): Jason Kubel led off the 11th inning with a home run off Matt Guerrier and visiting Arizona won its eighth consecutive game against Los Angeles.

Kubel had just one hit in his last 24 at-bats before he belted a 1-1 pitch off Guerrier (0-2) to deep right field. The win moved the Diamondbacks 8 1/2 games behind National League West-leading San Francisco while the Dodgers remained 4 1/2 games out of first.

Brad Bergesen (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the win and J.J. Putz retired A.J. Ellis with runners at the corners in the 11th for his 28th save.

Arizona took an early lead on Chris Johnson’s RBI triple in the second and added two runs in the top of the fifth when Trevor Cahill singled in a run and scored on Aaron Hill’s double.

Los Angeles, which has been outscored 42-14 during its eight-game losing streak against the Diamondbacks, broke through in the bottom of the fifth on Mark Ellis’ two-run single.

The Dodgers tied the game in the sixth when Matt Kemp walked, stole second base, and surprised right fielder Justin Upton by moving to third on Hanley Ramirez’s sacrifice fly. After Mike Zagurski relieved Cahill, Kemp scored on Andre Ethier’s two-out single to left field.

Arizona threatened in the eighth with two on and no outs before Ronald Belisario struck out Paul Goldschmidt and induced Upton's inning-ending double play.

Neither starting pitcher worked past the sixth inning, with Cahill giving up three runs over 5 2/3 frames and Aaron Harang yielding three runs over five innings.

Miguel Montero had three hits for Arizona, which used seven pitchers and improved to 11-20 in one-run games. The Diamondbacks are 12-3 in their last 15 games at Dodger Stadium and lead the season series, 10-4.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Dodgers dropped to 2-5 since acquiring Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Nick Punto and Carl Crawford from Boston. … Johnson tripled in the second when Ethier was unable to track his routine fly ball to right field until the last second. … Arizona hit into four double plays. … Kemp went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts after missing two games with a shoulder injury. … The Diamondbacks claimed INF Cody Ransom off waivers from the Brewers.
