Rockies 4, Brewers 1: Michael Cuddyer's two-run double in the eighth inning broke a tie game and Jeremy Guthrie allowed three hits in seven innings as visiting Colorado posted a rare Sunday victory.

With one out in the eighth, Troy Tulowitzki reached on an infield hit and Jason Giambi walked. Cuddyer followed with a shot into the left-center field gap off Francisco Rodriguez (0-2) to help the Rockies to their first Sunday win of the season.

Colorado set a major league record by losing 17 straight Sunday games in 2011.

Guthrie (2-1) rebounded after allowing six runs in each of his last two starts and lowered his ERA nearly two runs to 5.92.

After Rex Brothers allowed a walk and a hit to lead off the eighth, Matt Belisle retired the heart of Milwaukee's order - Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart. Rafael Betancourt pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save in five chances.

The Rockies added an insurance run in the ninth on Carlos Gonzalez' RBI single off Wily Peralta, who was making his major league debut.

Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo allowed six hits, one run and struck out eight in seven innings.

The Rockies strung together three singles in the first, with Giambi knocking in Tyler Colvin to make it 1-0.

The Brewers tied it 1-1 in the fourth in strange fashion. Braun led off with a walk and stole second after Ramirez struck out. Rockies second baseman Marco Scutaro took the throw from catcher Ramon Hernandez - which appeared in time to get Braun - but inexplicably did not apply the tag. After Hart grounded out, Mat Gamel drove in Braun with a single to right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rockies manager Jim Tracy didn't start three regulars - first baseman Todd Helton, third baseman Chris Nelson and center fielder Dexter Fowler - after sitting five in each previous Sunday game this season. ... Tracy won his 800th game. ... Tulowitzki went 2-for-5, but his lifetime average against Milwaukee decreased to .402. ... Belisle has allowed one hit in 6 2/3 scoreless innings. ...
