Diamondbacks 12, Astros 4:
Aaron Hill capped a nine-run fifth inning with a three-run homer and Chris Young had four hits, including a home run, as visiting Arizona trounced Houston.

The Astros fired manager Brad Mills after the game. First base coach Bobby Meacham and hitting coach Mike Barnett were also relieved of their duties.

Ryan Wheeler hit his first career home run and Justin Upton, Paul Goldschmidt and Stephen Drew each drove in a run for the Diamondbacks, who have won three in a row for the first time this month.

Jordan Lyles (2-10) held Arizona off the board for the first four innings before he was pulled after the first six batters reached in the fifth on four singles and a pair of walks. Xavier Cedeno walked Drew with the bases loaded to force in the fourth run of the frame and two runs scored on an error before Hill greeted right-hander Chuckie Fick by smashing his 15th homer off the wall behind the Crawford boxes in left-center.

Patrick Corbin (5-4) was the beneficiary of all that support and ended up going seven innings. The rookie left-hander allowed four runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five.

Lyles ended up charged with seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in four-plus innings. The 21-year old right-hander has not won since June 26.

Wheeler connected in the seventh inning, sending a 3-1 fastball the opposite way into the Crawford boxes, and Young capped his big night with a solo blast - his 13th - in the eighth.

Tyler Greene and Chris Snyder each homered for the Astros, who have dropped three straight.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Houston dropped to 5-29 since the All-Star break and has officially clinched a losing season at 39-82. … Diamondbacks LF Jason Kubel (stiff neck) sat out his second straight game. He was available as a pinch hitter. … Young entered the contest 6-for-40 in his previous 13 games.
