Astros 12, Dodgers 0: Wandy Rodriguez shut down a red-hot Los Angeles lineup and Jordan Schafer hit a grand slam as Houston coasted at home.

The Dodgers, who came in with the best record in the National League at 12-3, had scored at least two runs in every game this year before running into Rodriguez (1-2), who allowed just three hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out six. Los Angeles did not get a runner past second base until the sixth inning.

Carlos Lee put Houston on top to stay with a two-run homer in the first inning, and Schafer broke the game open with a bases-loaded blast to right against Chad Billingsley (2-1) in the second. The Astros took full advantage of three Los Angeles errors, scoring four unearned runs.

Jason Castro tripled and scored on an error during the Astros’ three-run fourth and added an RBI single in the fifth inning. Chris Johnson and Jose Altuve drove in the final Houston runs with base hits in the eighth.

Billingsley lasted just 3 1/3 innings in defeat, walking four and giving up four hits. Five of the nine runs he surrendered were earned.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dodgers CF Matt Kemp, who had his 10-game hitting streak snapped, was hitless for just the second time this season ... Kemp and RF Andre Ethier, who have driven in a combined 43 of the Dodgers’ 68 runs this year, were pulled from the lineup in the bottom of the sixth inning ... The Astros had lost the last six meetings between the teams.
