Cardinals 5, Cubs 4 (10):
Jon Jay ripped an RBI double down the right field line in the top of the 10th inning as St. Louis capped a comeback against rival Chicago.

The Cardinals, who lost in extra innings in Friday’s series opener, put a pair of runners on with back-to-back two-out walks in front of Jay. Jaye Chapman (0-1) finally got one over the plate to Jay, who turned and ripped it down the line, just out of the reach of first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

Carlos Marmol came on to close it for the Cubs in the ninth and struck out Jay before Carlos Beltran turned on an 0-1 fastball and belted it out to right field for his 30th home run and a 4-4 tie. Matt Holliday added an RBI double for St. Louis, which pushed its lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for the second wild card spot to 2 1/2 games.

Mitchell Boggs (4-1) recorded the final out of the ninth to pick up the win and Jason Motte struck out the side in the 10th en route to his 39th save. Both Boggs and Motte were unavailable in Friday’s opener, when the Cardinals bullpen squandered a lead.

Chicago was trailing 3-1 in the sixth when David DeJesus led off the sixth and took a 1-1 breaking ball into the last row of the bleachers in right field to cut it to 3-2. The Cubs loaded the bases with a single, a double and an intentional walk before Welington Castillo hit a sacrifice fly and Dave Sappelt lined a single to left to put Chicago on top.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cardinals RHP Jake Westbrook (oblique) had his bullpen session before the game cut short due to lingering pain. He could miss the remainder of the regular season. … St. Louis C Yadier Molina had to leave the game in the ninth after injuring himself dodging an inside pitch from Marmol. … Chapman had allowed only one run in 8 1/3 total major-league innings entering the day.
