Cardinals 10, Royals 7: Matt Holliday and Yadier Molina each homered and combined to drive in nine runs as host St. Louis evened the I-70 series.

Holliday went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and Molina added a 2-for-3 day with four RBIs. The Cardinals, who led 6-1 early, trailed 7-6 in the seventh when Holliday tied it with an RBI hit. Molina delivered a two-out, bases-loaded single to make it 9-7.

Mike Moustakas homered and drove in four for the Royals, who saw their four-game win streak snapped. Alcides Escobar had put Kansas City on top with a two-run single in the seventh.

Holliday and Molina crushed two-run homers in the first. Holliday launched his shot 431 feet into the upper deck down the left-field line and Molina lined one over the fence in left.

Kansas City starter Bruce Chen lasted just 1 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits.

St. Louis rookie Joe Kelly was pulled with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth. Victor Marte relieved and allowed just one run, preserving a 6-3 lead at the time.

Mitchell Boggs (1-1) picked up the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Jason Motte earned his 14th save. Tim Collins (4-1) took the loss.

Cardinals right fielder Carlos Beltran went 3-for-4 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cardinals have won 15 of 29 all-time regular-season meetings with the Royals in St. Louis. … Molina is likely to get the day off Sunday, according to Cards manager Mike Matheny. ... Matheny was ejected in the first inning for arguing an overturned triple play call.
