Reds 6, Tigers 5 (10): Wilson Valdez bunted home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as host Cincinnati shaded Detroit.

After Miguel Cairo opened the frame with a triple off Tigers reliever Phil Coke (1-2), Valdez ended things with a perfectly-placed bunt down the first-base line that easily scored the speedy Cairo.

Sam LeCure (2-1) tossed two perfect innings to earn the win.

Joey Votto led the Cincinnati attack with three hits - including a mammoth three-run homer - to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, tying a career high set in 2009.

Trailing 4-3 in the seventh and having chased Cincinnati starter Mat Latos from the game, the Tigers drew even on Brennan Boesch's two-out single to center field that brought home Ramon Santiago. Delmon Young gave Detroit its first lead an inning later, depositing an 0-1 pitch from Jose Arredondo deep into the seats in left-center for his fifth home run of the campaign.

The Reds answered right back in the bottom half of the eighth. Cairo opened with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice and scored on a Todd Frazier pinch-hit double to left field.

Latos was charged with four runs (three earned) on seven hits through 6 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out three. Detroit counterpart Rick Porcello surrendered four runs on nine hits in his five-inning stint, with two walks and one strikeout.

The Reds opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, as a Brandon Phillips single to the pitcher brought home Zack Cozart in a close play at the plate.

Votto broke open the game in the third. After Cozart and Chris Heisey reached on back-to-back singles, Votto launched a 2-1 pitch from Porcello over the center-field wall for his 10th home run of the season.

Boesch put Detroit on the board in the top of the fourth inning with a solo shot to right field, his sixth of the campaign. Two innings later, the Tigers struck for a pair of runs on a Miguel Cabrera single to left that plated Matt Young and Quintin Berry.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Votto is batting a scorching .549 (28-for-51) during his hitting streak. ... Cabrera's two-run single made him the second player in the majors to reach the 50-RBI plateau. He trails only Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who came into the night with 58 RBIs. ... Porcello is 0-2 with four no-decisions in his last six starts dating back to May 6.
