White Sox 9, Royals 8 (14):
Kevin Youkilis' sacrifice fly in the 14th inning scored Gordon Beckham with the winning run as American League Central leader Chicago prevailed in a wild back-and-forth battle at Kansas City.

Beckham drew a one-out walk against Everett Teaford (1-3) and moved to third on a base hit by Alejandro De Aza. Youkilis then flied to center field on the 14th pitch of his at-bat to extend his streak of consecutive games with an RBI to eight.

Dylan Axelrod (1-2), who pitched a scoreless 13th inning, stayed on and worked a 1-2-3 14th to finish it off for the visitors.

The White Sox took the lead on Beckham's RBI double in the top of the 12th, but the Royals responded against Chicago closer Addison Reed, pulling even when Alex Gordon's groundout scored Jeff Francoeur from third.

After Alcides Escobar put the Royals on top with a two-run triple in the eighth inning, the White Sox tied it in the top of the ninth against Royals closer Jonathan Broxton. A.J. Pierzynski (four hits) singled to right field with the bases loaded and one out, scoring Youkilis with the tying run. Orlando Hudson tried to follow Youkilis in, but he was thrown out at the plate by Francoeur.

Francoeur’s solo home run in the fourth inning helped give Kansas City a 5-3 edge, but Chicago's Dayan Viciedo answered with a three-run homer with two out in the fifth against Bruce Chen.

The White Sox took the lead in the first inning on a two-run homer by Adam Dunn and a solo shot by Alex Rios before the Royals tied it with three runs in the second. Mike Moustakas hit a solo home run, and Lorenzo Cain and Gordon followed with RBI singles.

Chen went 4 2/3 innings for Kansas City, giving up six runs on nine hits. Chicago starter Jose Quintana yielded five runs on eight hits in five innings.
