White Sox 14, Indians 7:
Dayan Viciedo homered and drove in five runs as host Chicago outslugged Cleveland to move within a game and a half of the American League Central lead.

After the second two-run homer of the game by Jason Kipnis brought the Indians within a run at 8-7 in the fifth inning, the White Sox responded with four runs in the seventh. Viciedo had an RBI single during the rally, which also saw the home club score twice on Cleveland errors.

Alex Rios added a two-run homer in the eighth to put the game away.

Cleveland erased a 4-0 deficit with five runs in the third inning. Michael Brantley cleared the bases with a three-run double and came in to score on a Kipnis home run. The White Sox took the lead back, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning. Paul Konerko doubled in a run and Rios added an RBI single before Viciedo homered to make it 8-5.

Chicago got on the board in the first inning when Konerko singled in a run, moved to third on an RBI double by A.J. Pierzynski and scored on Viciedo’s two-run base hit.

Jake Peavy (6-1) got the win despite giving up seven runs in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out nine while yielding six hits and a walk.

Starter Derek Lowe (6-3) lasted just 2 1/3 innings for Cleveland, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Viciedo has seven home runs and 18 RBIs in his last 12 games. ... Brantley made a leaping catch in center field to rob Rios of a three-run homer in the first inning. ...
