Nationals 9, Giants 4: Ryan Zimmerman homered and drove in three runs as Washington overcame an early three-run deficit to win its fourth straight home game.

Michael Morse followed Zimmerman's two-run homer in the fifth inning with a solo shot of his own. Jhonatan Solano and Rick Ankiel also went deep and Ian Desmond added a two-run single for the NL East-leading Nationals, who shrugged off the 11:05 a.m. (EDT) start time to record their sixth win in eight games.

The offensive onslaught permitted Edwin Jackson (5-4) to overcome a three-run first inning, highlighted by Pablo Sandoval's two-run homer.

Jackson settled down before allowing Sandoval's two-out RBI double in the sixth inning. The hurler labored through 5 2/3 innings to hand the Giants their fourth loss in five games.

With his team trailing 3-0, Zimmerman put Washington back on track in the second with an RBI double. Desmond followed two batters later and singled up the middle to plate rookie Bryce Harper and Zimmerman to tie the game at 3.

Washington flexed its muscle in the next two innings as Solano went deep to center in the fourth before Zimmerman and Morse belted back-to-back homers in the fifth.

After winning five starts in June, Madison Bumgarner (10-5) yielded seven runs on nine hits in five innings to take the loss.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Desmond is 14-for-33 with 11 extra-base hits and as many RBIs in his last eight games. ... Jackson last defeated the Giants in 2003, when he was a September callup for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
