Marlins 6, Brewers 2: Josh Johnson pitched seven strong innings to win for the first time in more than a month and host Miami salvaged a four-game split against Milwaukee.

Rookie Donovan Solano went 3-for-4 with an RBI single during a three-run first inning as the Marlins completed a 3-7 homestand and handed the Brewers only their fourth loss in 17 games.

Johnson (8-11) ended a four-game losing streak, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven to improve to 4-0 lifetime against Milwaukee and pick up his first victory since Aug. 3.

Greg Dobbs drove in a pair of runs and Donnie Murphy added two hits and an RBI for Miami, which had lost 10 of its previous 13 games entering the series finale.

Right-hander Marco Estrada (2-6) gave up four runs on seven hits in five innings to absorb his first loss in six starts and drop the Brewers seven games behind idle St. Louis for the second wild-card spot.

Miami jumped on Estrada in its first at-bat as Bryan Petersen led off with a double and scored on a single by Solano. Jose Reyes followed with an RBI double and eventually scored on Dobbs' sacrifice fly.

The Marlins added another run in the second when Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks muffed Johnson's grounder, but Ryan Braun got that run back in the third with a sacrifice fly.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braun needs one RBI to become the first player in franchise history to record five consecutive 100-RBI seasons. He extended his hitting streak at Miami to 15 games. ... Marlins RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo (the former Leo Nunez) underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday. Oviedo, who had been suspended for age and identity fraud, will be a free agent after the season. ... Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez was not in the lineup after leaving Wednesday's game with a lower oblique/back strain. It is unclear when he will return. ... Milwaukee continues its road trip with three games in St. Louis while the Marlins head to Washington for three games starting Friday.
