Nationals 3, Marlins 2: Ian Desmond hit a solo home run and added a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning as Washington won for the 10th time in the last 12 games.

The Nationals, who blew a two-run lead in the ninth, are 12-4 and off to their best start in franchise history since the 1981 Montreal Expos started the year 12-3.

Wilson Ramos led off the bottom of the 10th with a single to center and advanced to third on a throwing error at second base, setting the table for Desmond’s sacrifice fly. Edward Mujica (0-1) took the loss.

Logan Morrison tied the score 2-2 with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth off closer Brad Lidge, who spoiled a solid outing from starter Stephen Strasburg.

Strasburg gave up just four hits through six innings, striking out six and walking only one batter. The Nationals starters have gone 16 consecutive scoreless innings heading into Sunday’s series finale.

Reliever Tom Gorzelanny (1-0) was credited for the win after a perfect 10th inning.

Desmond opened the scoring with a solo homer in the sixth inning, taking a 2-0 pitch from Anibal Sanchez to deep left field. Jayson Werth added another run with a leadoff blast to left field in the bottom of the seventh.

Miami leadoff hitter Jose Reyes went 2-for-5 with two doubles. Reyes connected in the fourth and sixth, but Strasburg pitched himself out of the jam in both innings.

Sanchez was impressive through seven innings, allowing just five hits – two solo home runs – while striking out eight batters.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman sat out with shoulder soreness … Strasburg has a 1.29 ERA in his nine starts since undergoing Tommy John surgery … Morrison is 5-for-8 in his last three games.
