: Brian McCann homered and drove in four runs and Freddie Freeman added a home run and three RBIs in his first game with new eyewear as host Atlanta took the rubber game against St. Louis.

Jose Constanza had three hits and an RBI and Jack Wilson drove in the go-ahead run for the Braves, who have won back-to-back games since an eight-game slide.

Matt Holliday drove in a pair of runs for the Cardinals, who have dropped five of seven. Jonny Venters (3-2) recorded one out to earn the win while Craig Kimbrel struck out a pair in the ninth for his 15th save.

Mark Rzepczynski (0-3) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs in the decisive sixth frame.

Atlanta jumped out to a quick lead against St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse, putting up three runs in the first on McCann’s two-run shot and Freeman’s solo homer. Freeman's blast came in his first at-bat after being fitted with sports goggles that had arrived earlier Wednesday.

Freeman, who had been out of the lineup for the previous four games with corneal abrasions, was greeted by teammates making goggle symbols with their hands when he returned to the dugout.

The Braves made it 5-0 in the third as Freeman struck again with an RBI double and came in on Costanza’s single.

But Tim Hudson could not hold the lead, surrendering a run in the fourth and getting knocked around for four hits and a walk in the sixth inning as the Cardinals rallied to tie it at 5-5.

St. Louis brought on left-hander Rzepczynski for the bottom of the sixth and the Braves took advantage. Constanza led off with a single and came in on Wilson’s double to right.

McCann capped the burst with a two-run single later in the frame, putting the Braves up 8-5.

The Cardinals left the tying run on second base in the eighth and Atlanta put it away with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. Louis expects to get Allen Craig (hamstring) off the disabled list when it opens a three-game set at the New York Mets on Friday. … Freeman took batting practice immediately after the goggles arrived and declared himself fit to return to the lineup in the afternoon. … The Braves begin a six-game road trip at Washington on Friday.
