Yankees 12, Tigers 8: Curtis Granderson hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs as visiting New York snapped Detroit's six-game winning streak.

Granderson swatted his 30th homer and finished a triple shy of the cycle as the Yankees collected a season-high 18 hits to deny the Tigers' bid for a franchise record-tying 11th consecutive home win.

Staked to an early 7-0 lead, CC Sabathia (12-3) allowed five runs - three earned - on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings to win his fifth straight decision and remain unbeaten since June 7. Sabathia struck out seven and walked just one.

Eric Chavez and Mark Teixeira each had two hits and two RBIs and Robinson Cano added three hits as New York won for only the seventh time in 19 games to maintain its 4 1/2-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles atop the American League East.

Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez (1-2) was roughed up for seven runs on seven hits in three-plus innings in his third start since he was acquired from Miami.

Omar Infante homered and Jeff Baker and Brennan Boesch each had a pair of hits and two RBIs for Detroit, which scored four runs in the seventh to get within 8-7 before the Yankees tacked on two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth.
