Angels 6, Red Sox 5: Torii Hunter drove in the winning run with a walk-off sacrifice fly as host Los Angeles came from behind in the ninth to knock off Boston.
Red Sox closer Alfredo Aceves (2-9) hit Erick Aybar on the back foot with one out and walked Alberto Callaspo in front of Mike Trout, who drove a broken-bat single up the middle to plate the tying run and send Callaspo to third.
Hunter followed and sent a deep fly ball to right field, easily scoring Callaspo and setting off a celebration as the Angels beat Boston for the fourth time in just over a week.
Kevin Jepsen (3-2) picked up the win in relief.
Aceves, who was suspended for three games over the weekend, was activated before the game and worked a perfect eighth before suffering his eighth blown save and second straight against Los Angeles.
The Angels struck early, when Trout led off the bottom of the first with his 25th home run. Mark Trumbo added a sacrifice fly later in the frame to make it a 2-0 gap.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia began the comeback for Boston with his 22nd homer in the second, sitting back on a 2-2 curveball and flying it into the second row above the right field scoreboard.
The Red Sox loaded the bases against Jered Weaver on two hits and a walk in the fourth in front of James Loney, who plated the tying run. Saltalamacchia followed with a single to right and Ryan Lavarnway scored on a double-play ball to make it a 4-2 cushion.
The Angels chopped a three-run deficit down to one in the sixth when Albert Pujols reached Clay Buchholz for a solo home run - his 29th - and Howie Kendrick added an RBI double.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Trout, at 21 years and 21 days, is the youngest player in history and the first rookie ever to amass at least 25 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season. … Kendrick extended his hitting streak to 14 games with an RBI double in the sixth. … Pujols (calf) returned to the lineup after a four-game absence as the DH and hit his 29th home run in the sixth. … The Red Sox placed LHP Franklin Morales (shoulder) on the DL.
