Red Sox 3, Indians 2:
Clay Buchholz pitched a two-hitter and Cody Ross broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning as visiting Boston snapped a three-game losing streak, but reportedly lost rookie Will Middlebrooks with a broken wrist.

The Red Sox third baseman left the game in the ninth inning after he was hit by a pitch and was replaced by Nick Punto.

Buchholz (10-3) is 2-0 with a 0.92 ERA in his last five starts. He struck out five and retired the final 12 batters in his second complete game of the season and the fifth of his career.

Asdrubal Cabrera had both hits - a homer in the first inning and a double in the fourth - for Cleveland, which had won two straight after losing 11 in a row.

Dustin Pedroia recorded two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Boston, which won for only the third time in 10 games.

The Indians' Chris Seddon (0-1) allowed three runs (two earned) and five hits in six innings in his sixth major-league start.

Cabrera drove a 2-0 pitch into the right-center field seats to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

The Red Sox tied it in the fourth when Mike Aviles walked with one out and advanced to third on Seddon's wild pickoff attempt. Dustin Pedroia drove in Aviles on the next pitch with a single through the left side of the infield.

After Pedroia singled with one out, Ross crushed a 2-1 pitch off the cameraman in straightaway center field with two outs to make it 3-1.

The Indians cut the lead in half in the sixth inning when Jason Donald led off by reaching on Pedroia's fielding error. He advanced to third when Aviles tried to catch him off first base but Aviles' throw one-hopped off his helmet and into the seats. Ezequiel Carrera followed with a sacrifice fly.
