Orioles 5, Yankees 2: Wei-Yin Chen tossed seven sizzling innings and Adam Jones led off the second inning with a homer as host Baltimore salvaged a split in its two-game series with New York.

J.J. Hardy had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Orioles, who snapped a two-game skid and finished their nine-game homestand 4-5.

Chen (4-0) used his curveball to fluster the Yankees throughout the night - and even flashed some leather to deny Nick Swisher on a line drive to end the sixth inning. Chen allowed a two-run homer in the seventh to Curtis Granderson, who has gone deep three times this season at Camden Yards.

Jones extended his hitting streak to seven games after depositing a fastball from CC Sabathia (5-1) into the seats in left field. The blast was his team-leading 11th.

After Baltimore tacked on another run in the third inning, Hardy belted a shot off the base of the wall in left field to plate Xavier Avery in the fifth.

Pedro Strop overcame two walks in the eighth inning and Jim Johnson retired the side in the ninth to convert his 20th consecutive save opportunity dating back to last season. Johnson has 12 saves this season.

Sabathia yielded four runs on eight hits in six innings to drop to 10-2 at Camden Yards and 16-3 in his career versus the Orioles.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Yankees placed right-hander David Robertson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his left ribcage. Robertson was 0-1 with a 2.51 ERA with one save. On this day in 1941, Yankee legend Joe DiMaggio went 1-for-4 versus the Chicago White Sox to begin his 56-game hitting streak.
