C.J. Wilson pitched a six-hitter and retired the final 14 batters as the Texas Rangers posted a 5-2 victory over the host Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.

The Rangers' Mitch Moreland led off the fifth with a booming homer to right-center field off rookie Michael Pineda (4-2) to break a 2-2 tie and Chris Davis hit one in the same area with two outs in the seventh to give the Rangers a key insurance run.

Wilson (4-1) struck out a season-high 12 and walked one to defeat Seattle for the second time this season.

Ian Kinsler scored on a wild pitch by Seattle’s Chris Ray in the eighth for the final run.

Pineda, the American League Rookie of the Month for April, struck out nine and walked none in seven innings. He gave up four runs and seven hits. Both of his losses are to the Rangers.

Texas scored twice in the first when Adrian Beltre doubled home a run and scored on David Murphy’s single.

Seattle tied the score on two sacrifice flies by Miguel Olivo in the first and third innings. Chone Figgins scored on both.
