Albert Pujols continued to pull out of his slump with a pair of RBIs and Ryan Theriot had three hits as the St. Louis Cardinals outlasted a long rain delay for a 4-2 victory over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Friday.

Kyle McClellan pitched six strong innings and Yadier Molina added an RBI for St. Louis, which has won three straight.

Miguel Batista got the start for the Cardinals because of the threat of storms and worked to two batters before the game went into a 2:10 rain delay. The break included three different tornado sirens as violent storms ripped through the area.

Scheduled starter McClellan (3-0) took the mound after the break and threw 93 pitches, allowing two runs and seven hits to earn his third straight win.

The Reds did not plan as well and ended up having to use Matt Maloney to fill in for Edinson Volquez, who had warmed up prior to the delay. Maloney (0-1) was not sharp, yielding a sacrifice fly to Pujols in the first and RBI singles in the second and third before getting pulled.

Mitchell Boggs got the final four outs for his second save.
