Adam LaRoche grounded into a fielder's choice to score Jayson Werth in the 10th inning to lift the Washington Nationals to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

With one out, Werth made it to second base on a throwing error by shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt. After he stole third, Werth beat first baseman Prince Fielder's high throw home.

Chad Gaudin (1-1) earned the victory after pitching the top of the 10th, while Zach Braddock (0-1) took the loss despite not allowing a hit. The Brewers lost for only the second time in their last nine games.

The Nationals (6-7) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second on two bases-loaded walks and a sacrifice fly against Chris Narveson, who had not allowed a run in 13 previous innings.

Milwaukee (7-6) cut the deficit to one in the fifth when Rickie Weeks took Tom Gorzelanny deep to left field for a two-run homer, his fourth of the season. Weeks scored the tying run with two outs in the ninth when Carlos Gomez singled off Sean Burnett.
