Shane Victorino hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning and the Philadelphia Phillies avoided a three-game sweep with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.

Placido Polanco had a game-tying, three-run homer in the sixth for Philadelphia (11-6), which improved to a major league-best 7-0 in day games this season. Cliff Lee, allowed three runs - two earned - and eight hits in six innings.

Milwaukee starter Chris Narveson carried a no-hitter into the fifth, Jonathan Lucroy homered and Prince Fielder drove in a pair of runs for the Brewers (9-9), who let a 3-0 lead slip away.

Philadelphia avoided an embarrassing home sweep thanks to the slumping Victorino, who led off the eighth inning with a blast to right-center field off Brandon Kintzler (1-1) for his second homer of the season. Jose Contreras worked around a one-out single in the ninth for his fourth save in as many chances in place of the injured Brad Lidge.

Victorino had been hitting just .172 (5 for 29) over his last seven games, but his timely homer helped Ryan Madson (2-0) pick up the win.

The Phillies had been held scoreless for 17 consecutive innings until Polanco’s three-run homer to left off Brewers' starter Chris Narveson tied the game in the sixth. Narveson yielded three runs and four hits in six innings.
