Scott Hairston homered and drove in a career-high five runs as the New York Mets cruised to an 11-2 home victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.

With All-Star Carlos Beltran sitting out with the flu, Hairston gave the Mets' offense a boost by belting a two-run double in the third and a three-run homer in the seventh. He entered the game with just 13 RBIs.

Daniel Murphy added a solo homer in the fifth for New York, which snapped a three-game losing skid with just its fourth win in 11 meetings this season against Philadelphia.

The offensive outburst was more than enough for Jonathon Niese (9-7), who allowed two runs on six hits and struck out six to collect his sixth victory in eight decisions.

Cole Hamels (11-5) permitted seven runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings to fall to 3-10 in his career against the Mets.

Jimmy Rollins and Raul Ibanez had two hits apiece for Philadelphia, which fell for just the seventh time in 20 games.
