The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the New York Mets 9-3 Wednesday night and matched their 2010 season total by picking up their 17th road win.

Kevin Correia (8-4) benefited from a five-run seventh inning to earn his major-league leading eighth victory. The righthander became the 13th straight Pirates starter to limit an opponent to two runs or less. He gave up two earned runs on six hits and struck out four in six innings.

Chris Capuano (3-6) was charged with all five runs in the disastrous seventh without recording an out. Five different Pirates drove in a run in that frame, including Xavier Paul and Lyle Overbay, who each tacked on RBIs in a four-run eighth.

In total, the Pirates tagged Mets’ lefties for 10 hits, an encouraging performance for a lineup that entered the game tied for second-to-last in the major leagues with a .227 average against southpaws.

Justin Turner homered for the depleted Mets, ending the team’s 10-game home run drought.
