Evans put the Mets ahead 2-1 with an RBI single in the sixth before the Marlins tied it in the seventh on Greg Dobbs' second RBI double of the game.

Evans came through again with an RBI single to center in the eighth, and after Angel Pagan's RBI double in the ninth made it 4-2, Florida's Mike Cameron ripped a tying two-run double off the left-field wall with two outs in the bottom half.

Evans' RBI single started the three-run 12th inning, which including an RBI single by Jose Reyes and a bases-loaded walk to Lucas Duda.

New York's Josh Stinson worked a perfect 12th for his first major league save.

Florida's Chris Volstad remained winless in seven major league starts since July 10. The Marlins have scored three runs or fewer in each of Volstad's past five starts.

The Marlins' Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to nine games, while the Mets' David Wright went 0-for-6 to snap his hitting streak at nine games.

Florida, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, leads the season series 9-8 going into Wednesday's final meeting of the season.
