Dan Uggla drove in the Braves' first run on a sacrifice fly but finished the day 0-for-3, ending his 33-game hitting streak.

With one out and Darwin Barney on first base in the seventh, Peña drove a 2-2 pitch from Eric O'Flaherty (1-4) over the right-field wall to put Chicago in front for the first time. Jeff Samardzija, Sean Marshall and Carlos Marmol each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to seal the win for John Grabow (3-0), whose throwing error had allowed the Braves to take a 5-4 lead in the sixth.

The Braves built a 4-0 lead over the first four innings, with Michael Bourn delivering a pair of RBI singles, before the Cubs rallied to tie the game with four runs in the top of the sixth. Tyler Colvin's two-run single was the big hit in the inning.

Atlanta starter Brandon Beachy pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out eight and allowing two runs on six hits.

Matt Garza worked five innings and surrendered four runs for Chicago, two of them unearned. He gave up six hits and a walk while finishing with five strikeouts.
