Dan Uggla matched an Atlanta Braves record by hitting safely in his 31st consecutive game and Tim Hudson pitched into the eighth inning as the Braves completed a three-game sweep of the Florida Marlins with a 6-2 victory Wednesday.

The Marlins loaded the bases in the ninth, but Jonny Venters struck out Brett Hayes to end the game.

Uggla had three hits, including a two-run single in the first. The streak is the longest in the majors this season and equals the streak of Atlanta's Rico Carty in 1970. Tommy Holmes holds the franchise record of 37 games for the Milwaukee Braves in 1945.

Atlanta's Alex Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the seventh and Braves outfielder Jose Costanza went 3-for-4 to raise his average to .413 since being called up July 29.

Hudson didn't allow a run through seven innings. He was charged with two runs after leaving with one out in the eighth for his 10th consecutive quality start. Hudson (12-7) has won three straight starts and six of his last seven decisions.

Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez (6-6) remained winless in 11 starts since June 10. He allowed five runs in 1 2/3 innings.

The Braves have won six of seven overall and nine of 12 meetings with Florida this season. They have allowed only 29 runs in the 12 games.

The Marlins dropped to 0-7 on their homestand and are 24-39 at home this season.
