Michael Pineda continued his impressive rookie campaign with six solid, as the visiting Seattle Mariners completed a three-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers with a 7-2 victory on Thursday afternoon.

Miguel Olivo added a solo homer for the Mariners and went 7-for-13 with six runs scored and three RBIs in the series, raising his average from .164 to .230 in the three games.

Pineda (4-1) won his fourth straight start, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out nine. The 22-year old righthander has allowed a total of four earned runs over his last four outings.

Justin Smoak, who had been absent from the team for eight days following the death of his father, has returned on fire, driving in eight runs in the series. He plated the tie-breaking run in the fourth on Thursday when his double off Brad Penny (1-3) chased in Olivo.

Detroit continues to operate with holes at the top of the lineup, as Austin Jackson and Magglio Ordonez combined to go 0-for-9 with five strikeouts from the No. 1 and No. 3 spots on Thursday, dropping their averages to .167 and .172, respectively.
