Carlos Santana's pinch-hit leadoff home run in the ninth inning gave the Cleveland Indians a 6-5 win over the visiting Minnesota Twins on Friday night.

Santana, batting for Lou Marson, hit the first pitch from Matt Capps (4-7) into the seats in right field.

Jim Thome, who was honored in a pregame ceremony, hit a two-run homer - the 604th of his career - and finished with three hits and three RBIs for the Indians.

Chris Perez (4-7) pitched the ninth for the win.

Chris Parmelee hit a solo homer and added a two-run double for Minnesota, which fell for the 16th time in the last 18 games. Rene Tosini's RBI double tied the game in the seventh.

Minnesota played without third baseman Danny Valencia and outfielder Denard Span, who were involved in a minor fender-bender Thursday in Minneapolis. Span's car rear-ended the car in which Valencia was riding. Neither player was seriously injured and could return Saturday.

Twins right fielder Michael Cuddyer left the game in the seventh inning with tightness in his right groin.
