Jake Peavy rebounded from a rough outing against Minnesota six days ago and threw shutout ball into the seventh inning as the visiting Chicago White Sox breezed past the punchless Twins 3-0 on Tuesday.

The White Sox remained eight games behind the Tigers in the American League Central. Detroit routed the Cleveland Indians 10-1 on Tuesday.

Peavy (7-7) scarcely resembled the pitcher that was torched for six runs in a 7-6 loss to end the month of August. The veteran righthander allowed four hits over 6 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out nine.

Sergio Santos worked the ninth for his 29th save.

Alejandro De Aza gave Peavy all the support he would need with a run-scoring single in the second off Liam Hendriks (0-1), who pitched well in his major-league debut.

Alex Rios added his ninth home run of the season - and first since Aug. 21 - in the fourth while Brent Morel had an RBI single in the fifth.

Hendriks was charged with three runs on four hits over seven innings. The Aussie walked three and struck out four.

Trevor Plouffe and Chris Parmelee each had a pair of hits for the Twins, who have dropped five straight and have managed only two runs over their previous four contests.
