Josh Willingham and Scott Sizemore hit two-run homers in a six-run fourth inning, and Tim Wakefield failed again to win his 200th game as the Oakland Athletics ripped the host Boston Red Sox 15-5 on Friday.

Wakefield (6-6) allowed eight runs (four earned) and eight hits in four innings in his sixth attempt to reach the milestone.

Gio Gonzalez (11-11) gave up four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings, and Hideki Matsui had a two-run double in the fourth for Oakland.

Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz hit back-to-back homers in the fourth to trim the deficit to 8-3 for Boston, which maintained its one-game lead over New York in the American League East.

Red Sox outfielder Darnell McDonald pitched the ninth and allowed a two-run double to Willingham.

The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday prior to Hurricane Irene's arrival. Sunday’s game was moved to Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. The first game starts at noon.
