Casey McGehee had three hits and three RBIs, Chris Narveson threw seven strong innings and Trevor Hoffman earned his 600th career save as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 on Tuesday at Miller Park.

Narveson (11-7) held the Cardinals to two runs on four hits over and matched a season-high with nine strikeouts against the team that originally drafted him. He has won his last three decisions and hasn't suffered a loss since July 28.

Hoffman worked around Colby Rasmus' leadoff single in the ninth for the milestone save, his ninth of the season.

Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI doubles by Prince Fielder and McGehee, but the Cardinals tied it with two in the fourth on RBI singles by Yadier Molina and Rasmus.

McGehee struck again in the fifth, scoring two with a single to left to give the Brewers the lead for good.

Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse (2-7) allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings, losing for the third time in four starts since returning from the disabled list Aug. 15.
