Corey Hart and Ryan Braun each drove in a pair of runs as the Milwaukee Brewers secured an 8-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.

Dave Bush (1-0) continued to be Milwaukee’s best pitcher this season by throwing seven shutout innings of three-hit ball.

The Brewers jumped on struggling Pirates starter Charlie Morton (0-3) with three first-inning runs, then chased him in the second with three more to take a 6-0 lead.

Jim Edmonds and Braun had consecutive doubles for the first run, a Casey McGehee single scored Braun and an RBI groundout from Hart added another in the opening frame.

Second inning scoring was provided by three hits, including Richie Weeks’ infield single to drive in Alcides Escobar, and two walks, including one with the bases loaded to Braun.

The Brewers added runs on a two-out triple from Rickie Weeks to drive in Escobar in the top of the third and another in the fifth on Hart’s second home run of the season to give the Brewers an 8-0 lead.

Lastings Milledge drove in the Pirates' lone run with a double in the eighth.
