Adam Dunn got an RBI groundout in the first inning, and Scott Olsen threw seven shutout innings as the Washington Nationals edged the Los Angeles Dodgers, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.

Nyjer Morgan led off the first with a single and went to second when Adam Kennedy followed with a walk. Cristian Guzman's sacrifice bunt moved both runners up, and Morgan scored when Dunn grounded to second.

That gave Washington (10-9) a 1-0 lead, and the Nationals didn't need anything else. Olsen (1-1) blanked Los Angeles (8-10) over his seven-inning stint. The left-hander scattered six hits and struck out eight in his best effort this season.

Tyler Clippard came on to throw a perfect eighth, and Matt Capps entered to pitch the ninth. Capps gave up a lead-off double in the ninth to James Loney, but pinch-runner Jamey Carroll was stranded at second as the Nationals won for the second time in the three-game series.

The Dodgers had chances, finishing with seven hits, but they went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven. That wasted a good effort from starter Chad Billingsley (1-1), who gave up one run on four hits in six innings.
