Aramis Ramirez belted a solo home run to snap a tie game in the eighth inning as the Chicago Cubs recorded a 4-3 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday afternoon.

Marlon Byrd blasted a two-run homer and Ted Lilly walked with the bases loaded for Chicago (41-50), which has won the first two contests of this four-game set.

Sean Marshall (6-2) retired the side in order in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up the victory. Carlos Marmol struck out the side in the ninth to notch his 17th save of the season.

All-Star Ryan Howard belted his third two-run homer in two days and Shane Victorino added his career-high 15th homer of the season for Philadelphia (47-42), which has dropped two straight after winning four in a row.

The team-leader with 20 home runs, Howard blasted a pair of two-run shots during Thursday's 12-6 loss to the Cubs.

Ryan Madson (2-1) permitted Ramirez's home run in the eighth to take the loss.
